The Yorkshire terrier is most probably the most loving and exciting new pet any owner can wish for. This breed make the best companions and are very intelligent, they are tiny little dogs that should not weigh more than 3.1 kg (7lb). You should never forget that a yorkie is a terrier, a hunter that will often dissapear in holes or grass looking for something to hunt down. It is important to keep your dog busy with toys that can stimulate him and regular excercise is important to keep him healthy and happy.

Yorkies came from England, and were used to catch mice and rats. The first breed club for yorkies were formed in 1898 to ensure a good breed standard among breeders.
